Four of the staff from the Center for Nonviolence in Santa Cruz were guest of the Visions of Community-- the parent organization for the Nonviolence Center --at a round table discussion of how to start a Peace Center/Nonviolence Center. 

In January 1992 a historic peace accord was signed between the government of EI Salvador and the grassroots opposition, the FMLN. This peace accord ended a civil war which had torn apart EI Salvador for more than a decade.

From 1988 through 1992, Pastors for Peace send 12 caravans to Central America, but this one was the largest. Charitable organizations in 112 cities in 23 states donated 2.5 million dollars in humanitarian aid. 34 Vehicles with 76 volunteer drivers took 8 days to travel from San Antonio, Texasto EI Salvador. 

The United States embargo of Cuba prohibits both traveling to and trading with Cuba. Under the terms of the embargo, an export license is required for any US shipment to Cuba. IFCO/Pastors for Peace and International Peace For Cuba Appeal are opposed to the embargo. 

Workers' Democracy in Cuba 

The 17th National Congress of the Cuban Workers Federation July 1996 - 33 Minute Video 

1900 delegates representing nineteen national unions met in Havana, Cuba in April, 1996. This was the first congress since 1990, when they lost Russia as a trading partner. 97% of the workers in Cuba belong to a union. Filmed by the International Peace for Cuba Appeal. 

Fast for Life 

IFCO/Pastors for Peace Caravan 1996 - 10 Minute Video 

500 volunteers and supporters in 19 west coast cities and Canada donated 325 computers for Cuba's hospitals for an online medical information system. They were confiscated at the Mexican border. Five people fasted until the computers were released. The fast - which lasted for 94 days - ended May 25, 1996 . In July the computers were delivered to Cuba.

US Schools collected and delivered school supplies to Cuba April 1994 - 13 Minute Video 

The International Peace for Cuba Appeal sponsored schools in the US to collect school supplies. April 1994, a delegation of 29 youths traveled to Cuba to deliver the supplies.

November, 1992 104 US citizens challenged the blockade with 15 tons of humanitarian aid without an export license. The US government finally allowed them to proceed.

 US-Cuba Friendshipment II: Pastors for Peace July & August 1993 - 30 Minute Video 

The second Friendshipment caravan of 300 people in 90 vehicles carrying 100 tons of aid crossed the Mexican border after one bus was detained 23 days (the passengers fasted). Eventually everything was shipped to Cuba.

Pastors for Peace has sent several caravans of supplies to Chiapas. In the first three minutes of this video, we hear from several citizens of San Cristobal de Las Casas in Chiapas, then we join a caravan in San Antonio, Texas and travel with it to Aguas Calientes, in Chiapas, where it was stopped by the Military. Eventually the supplies were distributed.
