Death Valley Less Traveled

Richard Sloan has been a frequent visitor to Death Valley over the past 25 years, and in his presentation to the club he will focus on out of the way places that are not the usual tourist destinations.
Richard is a retired Army Transportation Corps officer with a degree in environmental studies. He taught a course for Army ROTC in Death Valley called “Military Aspects of Desert Survival and Military Mountaineering.” He also taught upper division geography students at Fresno State in Death Valley. Richard led Sierra Club hikes in Death Valley as well as hikes for Rotary foreign students, hiking clubs, and the Sunnyside High School Key Club. Very interested in Death Valley area history, Richard rarely goes to the tourist areas of Death Valley National Park. Join us for an exploration of the off the beaten track in Death Valley.
