The six-year old daughter of one of the our recent interns took home one of the Center’s “Peace Pigs”, decorated it, filled it from  piggy bank cash she already had  and returned it to the Center during its recent Board meeting.   I’m adding below two photos of Kaitlyn taken at that occasion.  When she handed the peace pig to me, I was flabbergasted! It was so full of coins that I’m not sure how she managed to carry it from the car and hold it for at least 10 minutes while I introduced her to the Board.

There are quite a few peace pigs still out there so I’m hoping that this story will remind you (perhaps put you to shame!) that you haven’t returned yours yet. I know that it takes a lot of coins to fill them, but bring them in anyway;  you can always take your pig back home with you.  Though they don’t bring in much money, most peace pigs give us about $25.00 – collected painlessly over time with your spare change.  That amount buys us copy paper, ink cartridges, DVDs for our movie night – many items like this.

If you have no idea what a Peace Pig is, go to our Programs on this website.
