Monday, October 19at 7 p.m. at the Fresno Center for Nonviolence, 1584 N.Van Ness (SE corner Van Ness and McKinley),  the documentary “A People without a Land” by Eliyahu Ungar-Sargon will be shown. For decades, the prevailing wisdom has been that the solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would come in the form of a two-state solution. This is formulated as an Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank and the establishment of a Palestinian state there and in the Gaza Strip. Unfortunately, with half a million Israeli settlers living throughout the West Bank and millions of Palestinian refugees demanding to return to their homes in Israel, the two-state solution no longer seems practical, let alone just. This video explores the notion that the only real solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a one-state solution. Spending time with people from across the political spectrum, including settlers, politicians, activists and unique individuals who have successfully crossed the ethnic divide, we explore the possibilities that such a solution might entail.

We are also lucky enough to have as a discussant Dr. Manzar Foroohar, Professor of History at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo who will talk about the Occupation of Palestine and answer questions.

The film is free and open to the public, though donations would be very welcome to help with the expense of bringing this film here.  Wheelchair accessible.  For more information call the Center at 559-237-3223 Mon-Wed-Fri 11 – 3; Tue; Thu 2 – 6. This film is being cosponsored by the Palestine Freedom Project.
