Last month, we held a webinar where we heard from “Creechers” and supporters on what to expect when coming out to Creech.
Community Building at Camp Justice
Each year, we camp outside Indian Springs on private property which we called “Camp Justice” for the week of actions. All participants are invited to camp here for free. We will have access to water, electric, and primitive kitchen on-site. You may also stay in a hotel in North Vegas, which will have group rates. This is an all-outdoor event, with a huge space for social distancing and open air. Please be prepared to practice COVID guidelines on-site. – Josh Shurely, Veterans for Peace of Fresno.
Congratulations!
Our newest Board member of the Fresno Center for Nonviolence – Hope Valdez. Currently attending Fresno State majoring in Economics. She is also assisting our Treasurer Ron Vineyard.
Voting Recommendations?
The Fresno Center for Nonviolence (FCNV) have been often asked whether we do or don’t support certain political campaigns during an election year. For example, this month CA has a recall election for its Governor, along with other local offices in California. I thought that I would get the official word from the officials that should know the answer. According to the law, a non-profit listed as a 501 (3) (c), like the Center is, may endorse a campaign for policies changes. Policies like Medicare for All, Stop Fracking, or for the Abolishment of nuclear weapons in space or anywhere else and more but not for actual candidates running for any political office. Since local to state officialdom seemed to waffle on the issue, it was the IRS that said, “NO.” and because our existence depends on the kindhearted tax-deductible donations people like you make; we respect the IRS decision. So, you will hear us on issues of importance to people and our world but do not ask us who or what candidate the FCNV supports because we will not! So there. – RG.
