23rd Anniversary June 20th at Unity Church

As promised, we had a great celebration of our 23rd Anniversary on Saturday, with lovely singing by Avigdar accompanied by Jean Hays, a delicious potluck and a silent auction with lots of bidding going on!  There will be more photos by Richard Iyall but, for now, my son took the attached photo of our Way of Peace Awardees, Teresa Castillo, Chris Breedlove and FIYA members Brisa Cruz, Gelasio Rodriguez, Eleazar Valdez and David Martinez.  No doubt you are concerned that Connie Young seems to have changed quite a bit – not to worry, her good friend Bruce Ratcliffe very kindly . . . → Read More: 23rd Anniversary June 20th at Unity Church

Our 23rd Anniversary on Saturday, June 20 at 4 p.m.

This is a reminder of the Center’s 23rd Anniversary (yes, 23 years old). We will be celebrating our birthday on Saturday, June 20 at 4 p.m. at the Unity Church, 315 W. Shields (between Fruit and Arthur). It is a potluck so bring something to share if you can, we’ll have Avigdar Adams singing with Jean Hayes accompanying him on the piano, our annual Way of Peace Awards – come and congratulate Teresa Castillo, Connie Young, Rev. Chris Breedlove and members of FIYA (Fresno Immigrant Youth Action). Our M.C. will be the incomparable Jim Grant. Radio show on Wedneday, 10th June about Ebola

Please listen to the Center’s “Stir it Up” radio show on KFCF 88.1, this coming Wednesday, 10th,  at 3 p.m. when I have as my guest Dr. Gracie Ann Dinkins talking about her trip to Sierra Leone and her experiences with Ebola patients and subsequent quarantine. We have all forgotten about Ebola in the U.S. and though there are only a few cases now in Liberia and Sierra Leone, thanks to all the education that went on in those countries, it is important to remember them so that we can be better prepared next time there is an outbreak.
