Meeting about crime, safety, race and gangs on September 11

(From Susan Kroeker – email at end) I am writing to invite you attend Living Room Conversation’s final community conversation about crime, safety, race and gangs in Fresno on Thursday, September 11 at 5:30 p.m. at University Presbyterian Church. We are expecting a large group to gather, and then break up into small groups of 6-8 individuals to discuss various aspects of crime and safety over pizza. People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to participate – teenagers, elders, everyone!

Dear Friends of the Center:  Quite a few of you came to see the film “Ghosts of Jeju” at the Center for Nonviolence a few months ago.  We were fortunate to have join us its director, Regis Tremblay, and a Korean activist Joyak Gol.  Most of us had not known what was happening on Jeju Island and Regis’ presentation was so eloquent and informative that we felt a strong link with the islanders and their struggles. Joyak’s part,  both in his presentation and by playing on his guitar, added to this feeling of connection.
